During the 2020 summer months of freedom I visited the New Forest a number of times seeking out new and importantly, local scenes to which I could return during inevitable covid crunches. I came across this wonderful scene of mixed deciduous woodland with the mix of birch, beech and oak. Normally in summer the uniform green of woodland leads to a lack of definition but here the mix of tree size and type, combined with the angled lighting adds depth and interest to the scene resulting in one of my favourite images of the year and a scene to which I regularly returned.
